Cockenzie Coal-fired Power Plant is now closed

This may not mean anything to you if you're neither an environmentalist nor live in the Lothians but for me this is tremendously good news. Essentially it means now the closest electricity generating facility from our place is probably the Dun Law Wind Farm and it increases the likelihood that our electricity will come from renewable energy. I just hope Scottish Power doesn't get away with converting it into a gas-power station.

  1. I have no idea, the article doesn't say anything about that but we need to focus on more energy from renewables so even if longannet increased its output, I sure hope it won't try to double it.

  2. Just reading up on it.  It didn't actually produce any power for us, it was all exported south of the border.  So we had this dirty lump producing power for England.
