Quick review of +The X-Files Annual 2015

I'm pleased to say that compared to last year, the artwork of this year's Annual is far better than what we got in 2014. The story itself, as I mentioned in my previous post, takes place in 1999 during some high school's 20th reunion so fits somewhere between seasons 6 and 7.

The variant cover is one of the promo shots for Arcadia and to some extent there's a bit of a call back to that in that Mulder and Scully pretend to be an item at a time when they weren't one. If you only know the X-Files from reading this particular comic run from IDW it could be quite confusing but for the rest of us x-philes it's a nice short story placed outside the current continuity and within the original timeline.

The story had, to me, a feel not dissimilar to How The Ghosts Stole Christmas or The Rain King and in that regard fits really well within that specific time period and though the story is ultimately quite simple it has enough complexity to bring Scully in full-on skeptic mode.

Last year the Annual comic was a long and a short story, this year the second story is a black and white preview of season 11 which should be available by the end of the month.
