Get ready for an end to roaming charges within the +European Union by 15 June 2017

The EU has been progressively reducing wholesale roaming charges every year to prepare for the complete abolition of said charges by 15 June next year. I'm no economist but this seems like a very clever move to allow for service providers across Europe to progressively put in place the required changes to make sure that their customers won't be overcharged for the data they use outside their country of origin.

Already I rejoice at the idea of finally being able to use so many tools that can only be used if you have data access while you're abroad and outwith WiFi range such as +Google Translate or +Google Maps .

Of course there's the hiccup that should Britain decide to leave the EU they will not benefit from such changes and this could very well contribute to a decline in tourism on these islands.
