There's something very neat with assigning specific theme tunes to characters and Marvel and DC have been doing this relatively well with their characters.
Wonder Woman is no exception and getting just the right theme to her character is key to anchor her in people's minds when she next appears on screen. I love the fact that it has a very Xena – Warrior Princess vibe to it and because of that I am very curious what it is about both themes that work so well as someone taken more or less straight from Greek Mythos.
The WW theme is relatively simple, it only has 4 notes: E, G, Bb and B which to my ear makes it a B harmonic minor scale. Obviously harmonic minors always make tunes sound more "classical" and in this case it takes classical to the extreme end of the scale. But there's more to it than just the notes, I think the real cement is the rhythm that Hans Zimmer chose. It has a very Balkan feel to it, it very much reminds me of tunes from Greece or Bulgaria I've come across before. And of course this is the heart of where Diana Prince comes from.
It seems really simple when I put it into words but really I don't explain it as well as I should just how genius this is to me, it's a compositional masterpiece at its top level.
