+The Scottish Parliament – Pàrlamaid na h-Alba

The official building of The Scottish Parliament was opened on 9th October 2004 and was designed by Barcelona architectural firm EMBT. It is designed to be a sustainable building using many local materials and borrowing a lot of organic forms from the natural world and from historical clues.

Back when it first opened I was so focused on old historical buildings that I did not care much for the style of this building but having visited it today I can say it is a marvellous feat of architecture, if a little heavy on the use of concrete. There is apparently not a single straight line in it and when you go in, it certainly shows.

If you visit Edinburgh, or even if you live here, it's certainly worth coming to visit.
