Edinburgh's Lothian Chambers building could become home to the French consulate
This is interesting news. The current location of the French consulate and French institute at 11 and 13 Randolph Crescent respectively has always felt a little tucked away for a consular building. Now with the Lothian Chambers becoming available it would be a good opportunity to put it to good use.
And who knows, in a few years it might be the seat of the French Embassy in Scotland. In any case it would be good to have a central location that can provide not just consular services but bring in the Library, an art theatre and generally a space for cultural events.

thing good
argh! a French "embassy" in Scotland… are you sure Scotland really wants to become independent from the British Isles?
+Frankie Perussault Well yes and no. "The British Isles" being a geographical denominator, Scotland isn't gonna magically detach itself from the rest of the Island.
However yes I do believe we will be independent from the rest of the UK in the near future. It's the only way for us to thrive in this mad political climate.
can we agree to disagree?! detached politically from the British "Isles" Scotland is a very small country… with what potential??? It's part of an island. The highlanders are islanders. Sure, they have their pride of being different and they don't like being told by the English. But dreaming of being an independent nation is suicidal, I reckon.
+Frankie Perussault 100% sure.
+Jean-Loup Rebours-Smith(null) totally agree
+Frankie Perussault Oh I really don't have the time to give you all the counter arguments on why there is plenty of scope for us to be successful and thriving as an independent country than shackled to Westminster but believe me there is more than enough evidence to support it.
Scotland is the same size (by population) as Ireland, Denmark, Norway, New Zaeland or The Netherlands and I don't see these countries desperate for another country to rule over them.
I live here, I know what our government can do and what more we could all do as a nation. It's anything but "suicidal"
Litly coool
