Edinburgh is full of places which attract tourists like flies to sticky paper, but Greyfriars Bobby's statue has got to be one of the top 5 spots in the city. And apparently someone decided at one point that rubbing its nose would bring good fortune and as a result the council has to apply fresh coats of paints regularly, not to mention the damage it does to the metalwork in the long term.

One day i hope to visit edinburgh
I want so much visit this place
Greyfriars Kirkyard is a quiet wee oasis, especially during the Festival. And you can spot Hogwarts names among the gravestones.
I also wish to visit Scotland
I have never been into the graveyard, but have seen the statue on numerous occasions. The story of Greyfriars Bobby always makes me cry. It's such a touching tale of canine devotion and doubly so, as I fondly remember my dad taking me to see the film, many many moons ago.
I have pictures of the graveyard taken at night in my photo collection. If I find a good one I might share it some time.
Hoping to visit Scotland on my travels this year!
Fond memories of my homeland ☺️

I love Edinburgh, it's my favorite place on earth! From the moment I got there the 1st time I felt at home, as if I had lived there in another lifetime. I have a pic of Greyfriars Bobby as my wallpaper on my phone!

+Scottie Land I know, it is good fun & you're very lucky! It's beautiful & the bonus is that it is scary too, I love scary! Last time I was there we went down into Mary Kings Close! Yikes! Never again! Lol! Creepy yes, but the claustrophobic part is what got to me!
+D.P. MillerdeRomero I'm afraid I don't know what you mean
+Scottie Land I love going through to Edinburgh. I've always enjoyed immersing myself in history and was delighted when I began my family tree, to find that I have numerous ancestors from Edinburgh and the east coast. The most recent in the not too distant past. Makes Edinburgh even more special for me.
+Isabell Nelson Bradley Toner beautiful
Is it gray frier dog?
Nice
love edinburgh
Very good detail
Very glad to read so many favorable comments of Scotland. We're working hard towards INDEPENDENCE !!
+Chris Welton you're well on your way! Scotland is a whoooole difference world than England….for the better! I love Scotland & her peeps, both are lovely.
+Grn Peepers Now I'm confused ! Who are the illegal freeloaders of whom you write ?
Grn Peepers what about the "freeloaders" who were born here? What exactly is a "freeloader" in your view, is that the people who for whatever reason are at the other end of the economic ladder to you? People with your attitude make my blood boil. As for the Vets, don't join an army.
+Chris Welton she doesn't have a clue. Just another far right xenophobe running her mouth.
