It seems I’ve gone into hibernation lately. I’ve actually been busy with quite a few different things, which have for some very bizzare reason pushed a lot of guitar stuff in the background. Life has a knack of doing this. One day you think you’ve nailed the most important thing in your life and the next something else comes along. It’s a bit like juggling with live chainsaws, it’s exhilerating but you really have to focus…. Wait no that was a stupid analogy, forget that.
Anyway, enough of my life, there’s an interesting multi-part documentary which is very interesting to follow. Last October, drummer Mike Portnoy announced that he would be leaving Dream Theater after 25 years with them. Now, I’m not necessarily a huge fan of Dream Theater, though I love Petrucci’s stuff but after spending most of the day listening to their music, I’ve gained a new appreciation on just how awesome they are. Seriously you can’t listen to 15min long tracks and appreciate the amount of effort put into making that kind of music. Theirs is truly epic in its own way.
