Last weekend I was over in south Queensferry so it was a good opportunity to get some decent shots of the bridges again. If you flip through the album you'll find shots taken some 4 years ago but they were taken with the Panasonic and aren't great quality. This time I was able to do long exposures on certain shots and experiment with angles.
However I have been struggling to get +darktable to export my photos and after many frustrating hours, I decided to try +RawTherapee instead. The commands are a little bit different and the UI is obviously not the same but it has comparable functionality, and more to the point, it allowed me to produce the image below. It's not quite the look I was going for, it somehow looks like an old photograph, but given my skill set that's the best I could do with the original blue-ish photos taken at twilight. Looking at all the awesome shots of the Golden Gate people post on a regular basis, one thing that seems to help with making the shot interesting is to put rocks in the foreground. Now for this shot I was on a small beach with not much to look at but perhaps getting a lower angle would have helped.
I'd be happy to listen to people's suggestions on how to improve the shot below if anyone has comments to make. Next up will be the other bridge but for now I'm happy enough I was able to post this.

Ok so as it turns out a few tweaks in the embedded Google+ photo editor makes a world of difference.
Next time I'm running my pictures through +GIMP before posting them and embarrassing myself with such awful shots…
huh. I liked the version you posted last night better.
Hi Jean! To help you better, we would need to see what the original photo looked like – preferably a link to the raw!
