Quick review of +The X-Files Deviations (2017)

To recap the main plot point of this Deviations series of one-shots is that the writers explore a world where it is Fox Mulder who was abducted in 1973 and Samantha is the Mulder sibling who leads the X-Files division with Scully.

This particular one-shot is a mixture of familiar episodes from the early seasons of the show with a slight twist. There are elements of E.B.E., Colony and Anasazi for the ones I spotted immediately. If there are other more subtle Easter Eggs I would have to go back and read it again.

But unlike the Annual and Christmas Specials these one-shots are the same size as a regular monthly comic which means the story is pretty much done shortly after starting it and so the story ends up feeling cut short by the time it's finished. And the end, as it is, is very similar to last year's Deviations. Whether this points at some broader storyline they will be exploring every year is hard to tell but as it stands it's a fun collector item to own for us X-Philes.

    Everyone thinks I'm weird because I watched the X-files come to find out so did most of my RA teachers so we would talk about it while the other kids just stared and I always wondered what would have happened if Fox and Dana met the Doctor from Doctor who

    I've loved this show since it first premiered in the 90's. I watched it alone in the dark! Can wait to the 2nd half of this new mini-season picks back up. They also need to do AT LEAST one more movie….
