Chris Carter weighs in on the shocking events of the season 11 finale of #thexfiles

I know I have been relatively quiet about the show during the run of this season. Truth be told, I have had some mixed feelings about certain episodes, and that finale certainly is among them.

I did not manage to resume my podcast I started 2 years ago, I just haven't been able to figure out a way to talk about the show in a medium that doesn't put everyone to sleep. But I would like to do a proper review of this season at some point, once we've had time to digest all 10 episodes. I have 8 out of the 10 on Google Play now so I'll be able to rewatch them properly and lay down some thoughts.

Is there any way you would like to read more from me about this season, or even about other seasons? YouTube is kinda done to death nowadays but that's always a possibility if I can keep videos short.

Either way it's not because the show is now over that I will stop posting about it here so stay tuned.

  1. I think people have stopped watching ever since it ended who knows how long ago it was. When I heard the show was being either rebooted or an extension. I honestly wasn't interested anymore. X Files was part of the 90's that was good at the time. Now being 2018. Things now are just uncertain as time goes on.

  2. Last night
    I saw/felt
    only one,/two sections
    of bad lines..
An.. why show.. driving around ? looking for someone
Why the waste of film time
    Otherwise great season fini

  3. I just could NOT watch this current season at all ! I did, however, read the recaps so that I would know how things progressed. Was the Alien story line ever resolved? I know what happened, but, was the general mythology, story line concluded? or resolved? I hope so. As for the future? There is no X files without Scully..

  4. Many thanks to fix and spectrum for not being able to reach a compromise on their contract dispute! All those loyal X-Files junkies such as myself just got teased as partway through this season we are unable to watch the second half of the season. Way to go all you greedy executives out there making millions of dollars yet still can't give the people what they want.

  5. So sad this season is already over. I won't stop watching The XFiles, but , as seen in previous seasons, the show is not the same hen one of the main characters is missing. I most certainly hope that Carter won't try to keep Scully's character simply replacing Anderson with another actress 🙁

  6. It seems to me that Carter and co. tip-toed around the 'conspiracy arc' for unknown reason, and favored MOW episodes. I didn't mind. I liked 'Ghouli' a lot. Just now, I haven't seen the finale, I have it recorded on Dish.

As a fan I imagined a few episodes myself, namely William and Gibson Praise finding the super soldiers and the leaders. THAT would have taken 2 or 3 shows at least. Carter didn't cast Jeff Gulka at all! Considering the Season 9 finale somewhat puzzling. And no Marita either. So slightly disappointed. But I sure do love that Gillian Anderson!

  7. If C.G.B isn't dead this time around, then I will be really annoyed. Mulder shot him a few times, but into his torso A bullet proof vest could save him! Why not a head shot? Afterall,he shot Mulder in the head, (he thought it was Mulder)! In season 9, at the end , we all saw the helicopter fire it's missile right into the midriff of cancer man, which would have blown him into mush! Of course, that episode was called "The End", as it was effectively the case! Only Chris Carter knows what the endgame will be. Please, please, please, no more immortal cancer man. That would be beyond stupidity. The show can go on with Scully being out of the picture due to her pregnancy and age. She's quite old to become a mother, so that's a good reason for her absence in a possible season 12. Doggett could come back, along with the new Agents Miller and Einstein! The story of William/Jackson is also far from resolved! Let's have 1 more season, but a proper season of 23/24 episodes to wrap it all up. Darin Morgan has to write a couple of gems…again! I hope this happens very much. I believe it will and will be on our screens this time next year. Us X-Files fans can live with that. Afterall.. Tempus Fugit. ✖

  8. +Douglas Smyth CSM has had his DNA modified with alien DNA which gave him some regenerative properties, which is apparently how he survived the blast at the end of The Truth. As such I wouldn't be surprised to see him return again in some fashion should another season be made.

I agree with you though, he should have just stayed dead and bringing him back over and over is getting a bit tedious.

On the other hand should another season be made it will never be a full 22+ episodes. I'm afraid that's not how the cast wants it done anymore and they've made it quite clear. I'm also rather sceptical that another season would air as early as next year. With the Fox / Disney merger happening that means The X-Files will likely soon be another Disney property and they may have other plans, if they have any plans at all, for the show. In any case it's very unlikely to have it be back so soon. Not that I wouldn't want to but realistically the probability is very low.

  9. not as bad as some critics say. Carter's summary helped. I see a lot of plots out there. If it continues, I hope Scully is in some of them at least. The last seasons without Mulder were bland

  10. The baby was born in a deserted country town while mulder was hiding with Gipson the mind reader. Scully put this baby in the hand of a good family too protect it.
And now is a young Adult. The first one.
It she or he has super powers.

  11. There were some gem episodes this season where you outdid yourself and I really do believe the stand alones are what made all of us fall in love with the show to begin with. The running alien encounter storyline just had to end, one way or another. I would really hate to see this show without Gillian and David though. They are my go to's.
