Sammon Puolustus (The Defense of the Sampo) – Alexis Gallen-Kallela, 1896
Although the original painting is currently housed in the Turku Art Museum, this one here is a reproduction of the Finnish master's masterpiece on the dome of the Finnish National Museum.
Gallen-Kallela is one of my favourite painters, I love how he mixes epic stories with a clean style which is full of colours but has almost a comic-book feel to it.
