Disney officially announces Marvel Studios spin-off shows on Disney+

Taking to Twitter to make a series of announcements related to its new streaming service, Disney has made several rumoured, yet never officially confirmed announcements on TV shows based off characters seen in Marvel movies.

The announcements are fairly short in nature but focusing solely on the Marvel characters this is what we should expect:

  • Captain Marvel will be available for streaming on Day 1 of the service being open. It’s unclear when exactly this would be and whether this will be before the movie becomes available on DVD/BluRay and Digital Download.
  • Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany will star as Wanda Maximoff and The Vision in a series called WandaVision (yes really, I’m still hoping it’s a typo or something)
  • Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan will star in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier (not terribly original but okay)
  • Tom Hiddleston will star in Loki (that’s all we know)

That’s it at the time I write this but I will update in the morning if there’s anything new and relevant to Marvel characters. No sign that that rumoured Hawkeye series is going ahead so far.

What they also haven’t announced is

  • When it will become available
  • They said it will launched in “each major region of the world” over the next two years. That likely means it will only be available in the USA and maybe Canada for the first 6 months to a year and then will likely roll out to Europe and then Asia, but they haven’t given exact details on this
  • How much it will cost

Edit: Most of the questions raised above have been answered in the link below but to summarise it will launch on 12 November 2019, starting at $6.99 a month only in the US to begin with.
