What were those freaky smiling men statues in last night’s episode of #thexfiles?

They are a set of statues by artist Yue Minjun located in Morton Park, Vancouver called A-maze-ing Laughter.

I was scratching my head wondering whether those were computer generated but it turns out Darin Morgan found the perfect spot to illustrate the hilariousness and the sense of disbelief that comes out of the conversation between Mulder and Mr They.

It also illustrates a broad sense of mockery that permeates the episode, not just of the series itself but of the current geopolitical situation of the United States which has become so unbelievably ridiculous it has lost all sense of trustworthiness and common sense.

This was by far one of the best episodes of all 212 episodes aired to date.

  1. I get the 'broad sense of mockery', and the falling down, laughter, but…in my case, they felt 'statues', a little exorbitant and 'non profit generating'.
