We’ve just returned from seeing the Rock of Ages musical. I haven’t seen the movie so can’t comment on how it compares (other than Tom Cruise isn’t in it) but I thought it was cute, and there’s not really any other way I could qualify it. My biggest gripe is how they kept the guitars turned down and the guitar players stuck in a box at the back of the stage. I know it’s a musical, it needs singing and dancing otherwise it’s a rock concert but all the same, it just wasn’t loud enough. Rock candy for the masses essentially.
