Rosslyn Chapel bathing in sunlight

Come to think of it, despite living fairly close to it, I think I’ve only been to Rosslyn Chapel 4 times. In 2000, 2002, 2007 and a few weeks ago in 2019. Sometimes what seems the most accessible is what you see the least often, a bit like old friends you take for granted … but I digress. At least this time the chapel was in bright sunshine, which isn’t always the best conditions for a photographer but with the weather you always have to take what you’re given.

Many things have changed since I had last been there. The surge in visitors it has received because of The DaVinci Code has brought in enough funds to remove the protective canopy it was sitting under the first time I went to visit it. It also meant a much stricter policy when it comes to photography as interior shots are now disallowed. Given the size of the place and the number of tourists rubbing elbows, that’s quite understandable. So with outdoor pictures only you make the best of what you can and this is the result.

If you ever come this way, give it a visit, if only to reminisce of some scenes from a movie (which I’ve never seen)
