The summer solstice is always a little bittersweet for me. On the one hand it’s the start of summer (in most countries in the northern hemisphere … mine may be an exception) but it’s also the end of days getting longer and from then on it’s another 6 months of days getting shorter again. This is why I prefer spring of all 4 seasons, there is a feeling of renewed hope and a rebirth you can see in the plants and trees.
And 21 June is also Make music day. I’m not exactly sure if it’s a coincidence or if the Fete de la musique established in France by Culture Minister (at the time) Jack Lang in 1982 has spread to other countries but I hope most of my readers get to enjoy music today whether you play or are just a casual listener.
Thank you, Jean-Loup. I enjoy your posts.
