The world is burning

and yet we continue to have one of the worst summers I’ve seen for a long time (though we’re having a reprieve this weekend finally)

It was interesting finding myself in the heart of a debate on what to do about declaring a climate emergency earlier this week. In many ways this felt like we were travelling back in 2007 when even back then there was nothing to debate given the overwhelming amount of evidence that society as a whole really ought to pull its finger out and get stuff done if we don’t want humanity to join the list of species we’ve driven to extinction in the past 50,000 years. Yet here we are, still ooh-ing and aah-ing about crossing a road which is slowly but surely getting covered up by a lava flow that will inexorably leave us stranded if we don’t ACT NOW!

Yes, this is frustrating and I’m resisting the urge to apologise for that but I won’t. Meanwhile, enjoy a flower when they’re still able to grow
