Wildlife Images: The Black Arctic Fox

This might seem strange at first to see an arctic animal without their thick white fur. But in reality, many animals who live in the polar areas have a much darker summer undercoat which gets covered up with their typical white fur as the cold dark days of winter settle in. It’s not too dissimilar to how chameleons work. They adapt to their environment to blend in as much as possible so as to avoid detection. Of course it has its limits with mammals like the arctic fox, but it’s still essentially how it works.

I didn’t think I was going to capture the fox on photograph when we went around the park. At first he was hidden away, but as he made his way closer to the fence I was able to capture a rather expressive image of him, which I really like and hope you will like too.
