Variations on a theme

Perceptions are everything. There are some who see the calendar turn to October and will rejoice at the idea of pretty coloured trees, fresher mornings and pumpkin spice lattes (assuming those are still a thing). Others, like me, have had too many bad autumns to really look forward to the season, so please forgive me if I seem grumpy.

To me the autumn is the shortening of days, it’s the wet and miserable days, the fading and dying of nature all around. Trees, as colourful as they may seem to others, never seem quite colourful enough to me to make up for the fading light and colder days … except my blueberry plant which are turning a very bright red.

Have a spring flower instead
